A Broken Gift
A little boy runs up to his father with broken clay in his hands and tears in his eyes. He said "I was making this for you, but I tripped and broke it. It was s'posed to be your big surprise."
So the father picked his kid up and wiped the tears from his eyes, and he said "I love the gift and everything'll be fine." Then he told his son "I love you," and he knew it was true. And all he could say to him was "Dad. I love you too."
Another boy walks up to another Father with nothing more to give than a life that's broken. He said "I was trying so hard just to get things right this time, but the more I tried the more I kept on choking."
So his Father picked him up and let him rest a while, and He said "A broken life is a gift; it's one of my favorite kinds." Then He said "David, I love you," and I knew it was true. And all I could say to Him was "Dad. I love You too."
